Han Solo Spinoff Film May Have Just Been Delayed

We’re not exactly sure if you can delay a movie that doesn’t already have a firm release date. But if you can, it may have just happened to the planned young Han Solo film.

The movie, which along with not having a firm release date still doesn’t even have a name, has long been rumored to be set for a May 2018 release date, just five months after Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters in December 2017. However, a new report from Making Star Wars suggests that the solo Han Solo film (get it?) might get pushed all the back to December 2018, in keeping with the new tradition of a Star Wars-related film every year before Christmas.

Early casting news for the Han Solo project stated May 2018 as the release date, but recent official updates from Disney/Lucasfilm simply have the much more ambiguous “2018” date attached.

Alden Ehrenreich has been cast as a young Han Solo and Donald Glover has been chosen to play a young Lando Calrissian. Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) has also been confirmed as appearing in the film, although her role is still mostly unknown.
