Okay, for everyone left, here’s an interesting tidbit about Poe Dameron, a pilot for the Resistance. Although he was involved in a near death during the movie, which he miraculously survived, actor Oscar Issac says the character was originally supposed to stay dead. That’s the character that J.J. Abrams originally pitched. In fact, his surprise reappearance in the film was added at the last minute.
Via Disney/Lucasfilm“I went back home [to New York], and I thought about it,” Issac says in a recent interview with GQ Magazine. “Then I wrote him and said, ‘Okay. I’ll do it!’ I figured it would be a cameo: I’ll come in, do my thing, and maybe it’s actually better not to have to sign myself up for three movies.” By that time, though, things had changed and Abrams soon wrote back: “Never mind. I’ve figured it out. You’re in the whole movie now.”
Instead, Dameron lives on and will likely be included in future Star Wars projects.
