Ever since it was confirmed that Rachel McAdams would be playing Christine Palmer, one of the night shift nurses from Marvel’s Night Nurse comic, in Doctor Strange, many fans have wondered whether or not her character would take on the mantle of Night Nurse in the film. Thanks to a recent interview EW [via: LRM Online] did with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, we now know that this will not be the case … at least at this time.
“I will say that that story line does not play into the movie,” Feige said when asked whether McAdams’ character would become Night Nurse at some point in Doctor Strange. However, Feige doesn’t rule out the possibility of Palmer taking on that role in a future film, cryptically hinting, “It’s just as much fun for us as it is for the fans to speculate about that.”
While Marvel isn’t using the Christine Palmer character as more of a nod to the Night Nurse series at this stage, it sounds like the studio could be taking a similar approach to how they handled Evangeline Lilly’s character in Ant-Man, as it was only revealed at the very end of that film that she would become The Wasp in the sequel. Perhaps a Doctor Strange post-credits scene will tease something similar with McAdams’ character? We’ll find out for sure when the film hits theaters on Nov. 4th.
