You need only look at the incredible number of actors who have been looked at to play a young Han Solo in the upcoming prequel film to see that Harrison Ford casts one heck of a long shadow.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Disney and Lucasfilm are casting a wide net in their search for a young male actor to step into the role of everyone’s favorite space scoundrel, with sources claiming that more than 2,500 actors have been looked at so far.
Some of the more recognizable names to come out of the massive casting search include Miles Teller, 28, Dave Franco, 30, and The Walking Dead‘s Chandler Riggs, 16. Clearly there is a wide age range in place, as even Mr. Robot star Rami Malek has been considered and he’s 34, only one year younger than Harrison Ford was when he first played the character in 1977.
“Star Wars: Young Han Solo Meets Puppy Chewbacca” (not the actual title) is being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie), with filming set to being in January 2017 and a summer 2018 release. Something tells us this epic search will conclude sometime in the new year.
