After only appearing in the final minute of Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker is gearing up for much larger part of the upcoming Episode VIII. It’s already been confirmed by the director that the next installment of the Star Wars saga will pick up exactly where it left — the first meeting between Rey and Luke.
However, Hamill may have just confirmed that Luke Skywalker will return for even more adventures, including a role in Episode IX, which isn’t scheduled for release until 2019.
Just check out this tweet made by Hamill’s verified account where he celebrates shaving off his Skywalker beard.

Goodbye, beard. “At least til #EpisodeIX.” Sounds like he’s planning to grow it back for an eventual appearance in his sixth different Star Wars film.
Hopefully Luke Skywalker will be a big part of the next two installments. A lot has happened to him since the end of Return of the Jedi, and diehard fans desperately want to fill in the history gaps of one of their favorite sci-fi heroes.
