We’ve known for some time now that Skydance and James Cameron have been developing a Terminator reboot and now they’ve officially found a director in Tim Miller, who helmed the first Deadpool.
As reported by Deadline, Cameron will serve as producer on the project, as the rights are set to revert back to The Terminator and T2: Judgement Day filmmaker in 2019. Not only that, but Arnold Schwarzenegger himself is set to return as the titular killing machine and the film will reportedly consider anything made after T2 to not be series canon, which means that we can forget all about misfires like Salvation and Genisys.
The Terminator reboot has no release date set but the film is at least in capable hands with Miller, who is a VFX wizard. And with Cameron back on board, the franchise is arguably in its best position since the early ’90s of actually being good again. We’ll see what happens.
