A STAR WARS Obi-Wan Kenobi Movie Is Reportedly In The Works

Disney is reportedly working on a standalone Star Wars film focused on Obi-Wan Kenobi and a director is already being sought out.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the Obi-Wan film currently has no script or actors attached to it, but that Billy Elliot director Stephen Daldry is in early talks to direct. According to THR, if Elliot were to sign on, he would oversee the film’s development and scripting.

It’s unclear at this time if Ewan McGregor, who played Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi in the George Lucas-directed Star Wars prequels, has been approached to reprise the role, but the actor has said in the past that he would be open to playing the character again.

Although the film doesn’t have a script yet, this fan-made trailer for a potential Obi-Wan solo film detailing his time living on Tatooine between the events of Episodes III and IV offers a look at where Disney could take the story.

We’ll update this story as details become available …
