‘Bill And Ted 3’ Is Finally Going To Start Filming

While promoting his Kickstarter campaign for Who the F#$% is Frank Zappa?, a documentary project dedicated to the late musician, Alex Winter spoke to Simon Thompson of Forbes about the current status of Bill and Ted 3 and had some reassuring news to report:

“We’ve been working on it for, like six years,” Winter said. “We’re knee-deep in the script, it’s been written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon who wrote the first two, they are fantastic writers, and the script is great. We have a script, we have a director, we have a studio – we’re just trying to nail down a start date.”

Winter also revealed that production for the long-awaited sequel to 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey will probably start by the end of the year or early 2017. And of course, Winter’s co-star Keanu Reeves is coming along for the ride.

“How the **** would we make it if he wasn’t on board? People always ask if Keanu’s doing it and I’m like, ‘No, I’m making a Bill movie.’ Of course, he’s in it. I can’t make a Bill & Ted movie without Keanu,” said Winter.

Winter’s comments are sure to bring hope to fans who, as early as last month, were surely left a little disappointed by Keanu Reeves’s comments to IGN about the status of the project.

“We’re closer, and we’re not closer,” said Reeves. “We’re expecting another draft, and hopefully, we’ll get closer. We’re just trying to get the script together. We’re trying to get the story right. We’re working with this studio, so we have a little bit of support, in a sense of like if the material comes through we’ll try and make this picture. We’re really just still trying to get the story right.”
