Ben Affleck Confirms Title Of His Solo Batman Movie

Update: It seems that Ben Affleck has backtracked a bit on his previous comments regarding the title of his planned Batman solo movie.

During a recent Facebook Live interview with E! News, Affleck clarified his statement on the progress of the Batman movie, stating that ‘The Batman’ is only a working title and that the film (which still isn’t officially in production yet) could very well have a totally different title when all is said and done.

“I mentioned the other day… it’s been around for a long time, the movie… there is no Batman movie happening yet, we’re still trying to figure it out, you know, get the script and budget and all that stuff. And someone said, ‘what are you calling it?’ and I had said, like, back when we were promoting another movie, I was like ‘we don’t have a name for it, we’re just going with The Batman or Batmanmovie’, and I said that, and everyone was like ‘Affleck announces the title of his Batman movie.”

So it looks like the media (us included) jumped the gun a bit when it was reported that Affleck had confirmed the movie’s title. That being said, we’re still going to refer to the film as The Batman until an official title is revealed, as it’s a better alternative than constantly referring to it as “Ben Affleck’s Untitled Solo Batman Movie.”

Original Story: We’ve known that Ben Affleck will write, direct, and star in a Batman solo movie for quite some time now, but it’s been rather difficult to know what to call it since no one at Warner Bros. has given the movie an actual title. Thankfully, that has now changed as Affleck recently revealed the title to the Associated Press … although he does note that the title could still change.

“The movie I think is going to be called The Batman. At least that’s what we’re going with now. I might change it,” Affleck said. “We’re working on the script. The script is going well. I’m really excited about it.”

The film’s title doesn’t come as a surprise, as it was heavily rumored that Warner Bros. was going to go with calling it The Batman, but it’s still nice to have a name for it that isn’t “Untitled Ben Affleck Batman Solo Movie.”

However, Affleck did not reveal a release date for The Batman, which according to Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes is about a year and a half away. One thing at a time, we suppose.
