‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ Gets A Release Date

Almost three decades after its original publication, Alan Moore’s acclaimed Batman graphic novel, The Killing Joke, is getting a movie adaptation.

Warner Bros. has confirmed to EW today that the R-rated animated movie will be getting a deluxe edition and Blu-ray combo pack, set for release on Aug. 2. Digital retailers will begin selling the digital HD version a bit earlier on July 23.

Additionally, WB also revealed some of the bonus features fans can expect to find on the home release. The deluxe edition and combo pack will feature two 22-minute episodes from The New Batman Adventures and Batman: The Animated Series, as well as a few featurettes. These include Madness Set to Music, a documentary chronicling the creation of the film’s storyboards and original score, and Many Shades of the Joker: The Tale of the Killing Joke, a making-of short exploring the distinct style of the original graphic novel.

Oh, and the combo pack Blu-ray will also come with a limited edition Joker figurine!

Batman: The Killing Joke stars Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as The Joker. Check out the full trailer below.
