As with all of his appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk was one of the best things about Thor: Ragnarok, so expectations are understandably high to see what the big green guy does next in Avengers: Infinity War. Speaking of Infinity War, Ruffalo was asked during a recent podcast appearance (ComicBookMovie doesn’t indicate which one, unfortunately) which actors he’s worked with who left the biggest impression on him and he named both Tilda Swinton and Cate Blanchett, two actors he says he’s collaborated with recently.
In the case of Blanchett, Ruffalo could just be referring to working alongside her in Thor: Ragnarok but he doesn’t have any other projects in the works with her or Swinton, so it’s possible that both characters are present in Infinity War. For one thing, Ruffalo has been working on both it and Avengers 4 for months now and in the case of Swinton’s character The Ancient One, Ruffalo never worked with her on Doctor Strange; not to mention that, according to ComicBookMovie’s Josh Wilding, there’s been a standee going around that shows The Ancient One alongside other characters from Infinity War.
Although both Blanchett’s Hela and Swinton’s The Ancient One are both seemingly “dead” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe right now, it’s certainly feasible to see either character returning given their vast array of abilities and powers. Plus, how cool would it be to see the Goddess of Death teaming with Thanos?
Do you think there’s any merit to the idea of Blanchett and Swinton’s characters returning from the dead for Infinity War or are we just reading too much into all of this? Let us know in the comments below!
