The Avengers

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Won’t Include Certain Marvel Superheroes

Marvel’s two-part blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War is set to be the biggest crossover event in comic book movie history when Part One lands in 2018. We know that the films will pit Earth’s mightiest heroes against Thanos, one of the Marvel universe’s most powerful villains, but which heroes will be part of that Avengers team remains largely a mystery.

With all of the characters Marvel will have introduced by the time Infinity War hits, there’s quite a roster to choose from. With that being said, many fans of Marvel’s Netflix TV series are wondering whether characters like Daredevil or Jessica Jones will show up in the big fight. Speaking to Spanish language site Super recently, Anthony Russo, one half of the team directing Infinity War, made some comments that suggest fans waiting to see the Defenders fight alongside the Avengers might not want to hold their breath:

“It’s complicated. … The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others. Then there is the possibility of a crossover, but it’s more complicated.”

While Russo’s comments make it clear that bridging Marvel’s films and TV shows is no easy feat, the two have played nice before, with Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and Cobie Smulder’s Maria Hill making cameo appearances in Agents of Shield, so there’s always a chance that things could go the other way, with TV characters making a cameo in one of the movies. Still, with so many other heroes to choose from and the messy business of making its movie and TV divisions play nice, it will be one heck of a long shot seeing the Defenders in an Avengers movie anytime soon.
