‘American Hero’ Gives Us The Superhero We Truly Deserve Via

Superhero movies are can’t-miss box office smashes these days. Even the universally panned Batman V Superman is gonna make oodles and oodles of cash by the time it’s finished in theaters.

But enough with the Marvel and DC Universes and everyone wearing form-fitting spandex costumes. We need a truly American hero that represents the everyday Joe, not some alien from Krypton or a billionaire genius who we can’t relate to (Batman, Iron Man, Black Panther, etc). We need someone who, ya know, just gets us. We need Melvin.

In American Hero, Stephen Dorf (Blade, World Trade Center) plays a somewhat reluctant hero who mostly just gets drunk and chases the girls around. That is, until he realizes that there is something more important in his life to fight for.

American Hero, which also stars Eddie Griffen, is gearing up for a major Canadian release on iTunes and video-on-demand in mid-April, and will be out on DVD on April 19.
