The Dark Tower

Aaron Paul Reportedly Cast In Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower’ Film

It looks like Aaron Paul’s wish has been granted.

Back in 2012, the Breaking Bad star tweeted that he would love a role in the film adaptations of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series, specifically the character Eddie Dean. Then in 2014, Paul revealed in an interview with AICN that he had had “a ton of meetings” with Ron Howard, who was The Dark Tower‘s director at the time (he’s since stepped back to serve as producer).

With the recent confirmation that Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey will star in the first film, which is scheduled for a February 2017 release, it makes sense that further casting announcements would begin to trickle out. Now, Blastr is reporting that Aaron Paul has indeed been cast in the film, although there’s no confirmation on if he’s playing Eddie Dean or not.

Given Paul’s penchant for playing smartass junkies (and the fact that the actor has expressed desire to play the part), it’s practically a given that Paul is playing Eddie Dean. Although Dean doesn’t show up until the second Dark Tower book, The Drawing of the Three, movie adaptations are not beholden to the source material, so the character could definitely be added in early.
