As is customary the day before the Academy Award nominations are announced, the Razzie Award nominations have been unveiled – highlighting the worst in movies over the past year. And while this year’s Razzies are to be applauded for skewering some of the truly awful films from 2016, we couldn’t help but notice a number of other terrible movies that didn’t make the Razzies list. In fact, we were a little shocked that some films which proved to be epic disappointments and failures over the past 12 months were all but ignored by the Razzies. Could it be that the good folks at the Razzies have gone soft? Here’s a list of 10 other movies that deserved the scorn of the Razzies.
10. Warcraft
Are you kidding us? Not a single nomination for what almost every person in the world of fandom anywhere widely considers to be the most horrendous movie of 2016. Really? The Warcraft movie, based on the popular World of Warcraft video game series, was such a mess that its director Duncan Jones all but disowned the movie before it even premiered, saying “Trying to make a movie like Warcraft, and trying to do it in a unique way, you get killed by a death of 1,000 cuts.” Yes, the world is littered with terrible movies based on video games. But Warcraft was particularly awful. Critics savaged it and fans stayed away, making Warcraft also one of the biggest box office turkeys of 2016 – it grossed less than $50 million in North America. Yet no love from the Razzies this year? Curious, to say the least.
