Microsoft has announced that they will be dropping the price of the Xbox One to $300 for a “limited time” starting next week as part of the Xbox Spring Sale. That’s $50 off the current retail price of $350, so if you were thinking of picking up a console this weekend, you should probably wait until March 20th when the price goes into effect.
Although Microsoft only plans to keep the lower price in effect for one week, there’s reason to expect that $300 could end up being the new permanent price for the system. As pointed out by Kotaku, Microsoft has a habit of dropping the Xbox One’s price and putting it back up, only to drop it down permanently a short time later. Even if that turns out to not be the case this time around, $300 is a great price for the console, so if you’ve been holding off on picking one up, next week would be a great time to do so.
In addition to the hardware price reduction, Microsoft is also offering a number of discounts on big games such as Halo 5, Fallout 4, Far Cry Primal, and about 150 others next week as part of the Xbox Spring Sale. Full details can be found here.
