Virtus.Pro Drops Longtime Member of DOTA 2 Squad

Following a series of decent, but ultimately disappointing finishes at several recent major LAN tournaments, CIS-based Virtus.Pro has announced that they will be taking advantage of the “transfer period” before rosters must be locked for the Shanghai Major, and will be dropping their carry player, veteran Dota 2 star Ilya ‘Illidan Stormrage’ Pivtsaev, who has been part of the VP squad for much of the past two years and nearly 1000 professional games. Illidan is considered one of the better Russian carry players in the game, and is best known for his unconventional picks, especially the rarely-seen carry Silencer. There is no word yet on whether he plans to find another team in time for Shanghai qualifying, but he should be in reasonably high demand among Western teams.

Replacing Illidan on Virtus.Pro will be former Team Empire carry player Airat ‘Silent’ Gaziev, leaving that team searching for replacements after also kicking their offlaner several weeks ago, forcing them to play with a temporary stand-in at the recent DreamLeague Season 4 LAN, where they finished second to Team OG.
