The Switch Version Of ‘Rocket League’ Is Getting Exclusive Nintendo Battle-Cars

Nintendo Switch owners opting to pick up Rocket League on the console will get access to new in-game Battle-Cars based on Mario, Luigi, and Samus Aran’s gunship from the Metroid series, developer Psynoix announced today.

The Mario NSR and Luigi NSR Battle-Cars will come with a special rocket boost called Super Star, while the Samus Gunship Battle-Car (which comes in two variations based on Samus’ Varis Suits) will also get a unique boost called Wave Beam. All three cars will be available for free as unlockables within the game, with Psyonix stating that players will earn them “in-game by completing certain requirements.” Further details are still to come.

“Whether or not players use the Mario or Luigi NSR will depend on which team color they select before the match — Mario for the Orange team and Luigi for the Blue team,” Psyonix said in a release.

You can get a look at the new Battle-Cars in action in the teaser trailer above, as well as in the screenshots below:

Additionally, Psyonix said that Mario and Luigi-themed car toppers will be available as cosmetics in the Switch version of the game, which includes local wireless multiplayer support.

Rocket League for Nintendo Switch does not yet have an official release date, but it’s due out Holiday 2017.
