‘Pokémon Go’ Player Embarks On Insane Journey Overseas To Catch ‘Em All

Although the ultimate goal of Pokémon Go is to catch ’em all, it currently isn’t possible to do so unless you’re willing to travel around the world … which is exactly what one determined (some might say crazy) US player is doing in order to catch every available Pokémon.

Nick Johnson made headlines the other week for being the first American player to catch all 142 Pokémon currently available in the United States. Although there are a few Pokémon Johnson will be unable to catch on his journey because they haven’t yet been made available to the public, he hopes to catch the three other country-exclusive Pokémon on his travels.

Business Insider is reporting that Johnson and his girlfriend will travel to Paris first to catch a Mr. Mime, a Europe exclusive. He’ll then fly to Hong Kong to seek out Farfetch’d and finish up in Sydney, Austrailia to track down Kangaskhan. The couple’s trip is being sponsored by Marlott Rewards and Expedia.

Surprisingly, Johnson isn’t even that upset that Niantic disabled popular third-party Pokémon tracking sites such as Pokevision, claiming that he’ll rely on the Pokémon Go community to help him find his targets. “I will be scouring Reddit on my flight over and have a battle plan by the time I get there,” Johnson told Business Insider. “I will travel across the land, searching far and wide. Basically.”

Johnson plans to head to Tokyo after he’s finished for vacation, where he’ll likely contemplate how in the world he’ll be able to claim the remaining six Pokémon that haven’t been spotted yet (five if you believe that woman in Ohio who claims she caught an Articuno). No one said the journey to become the very best would be easy.
