Pokemon Go Announces ‘Adventure Week’ Event

In honor of.. well, nothing really… Pokemon Go‘s next event will be called Adventure Week, and offer some intriguing changes to the popular augmented reality mobile game.

According to the game’s official blog, Adventure Week will start on May 18 at 1:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) and run for seven days, finishing on May 25. The event will feature a 50% discount on Pokeballs in the in-game shop, four-times the candy for walking your Pokemon buddy, and a general increase in rock-type Pokemon spawns. The announcement specifically mentions an increase in Omanyte, Kabuto, and Aerodactyl. You can probably also expect an increase in Geodude, Rhyhorn, and Onix in your area as well.

Last but not least, the game will add a new avatar item — an explorer’s hat. We’re not sure it will top the Magikarp hat from the Water Event though, because that thing is hilarious.

This will keep trainers busy for now, but Niantic still needs to work on trading, a complete rework of the gym system, player vs. player battling, legendary Pokemon, and Gen 3 monsters. But hey, more rock creatures!
