The original Super Mario Bros. was released over 30 years ago, but there is a still an active community of speed runners attempting to shave mere milleseconds of the world record time to complete the game. Yesterday, a YouTuber named Darbian posted a new world record time, produced by an almost perfect run on an actual original NES console.
To show you just how good he is at this, the record that be broke was actually his own. And he only beat it by less than a quarter of a second — 4:57.260 versus 4:57.427. But in Mario Bros. terms, that’s basically shattering it.
Pay attention to his heart rate going from around 84 beats per minute to over 170 bpm by the end!
