Star Wars: The Force Awakens may have December locked up in terms of Star Wars hype, but when it comes to games, it’s hard to think of any other title in the shooter space as hotly anticipated as the Star Wars Battlefront revival. We’re only a couple weeks away from its November 17 release and to tide everyone over, EA has just released an exciting teaser trailer for one of the game’s post-release levels.
The Battle of Jakku, as the trailer makes clear, takes place 29 years before the events of The Force Awakens, which suggests that the outcome of the battle has a pretty significant impact on the plot of the film. Of course, the game’s depiction of the battle will likely not give too much away, considering it will be mostly comprised of hapless stormtroopers blowing themselves up. The curious thing is why EA has chosen to wait until December 8 (or a week earlier if you pre-order!) to release the level. If it really does have spoilers for the movie, it really doesn’t make much of a difference if it’s released ten days or a month before anyway.
Either way, the level does look like a blast, if only because it’s a level not called Hoth that actually features the ATATs.
