If You Want More Capcom Games On Nintendo Switch, You’d Better Buy ‘Ultra Street Fighter II’

Capcom will consider releasing more games on the Nintendo Switch based on how well Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers performs, according to the company’s COO.

Speaking with Toyokeizei (the interview was spotted by NeoGAF User Calm Mind), Haruhiro Tsujimoto outlined the company’s current policy towards Nintendo’s new console.

“With Street Fighter 2 going on sale in May,” he explained (as translated by IGN), “Captcom will monitor its performance with regard to supporting the Switch.”

Tsujimoto didn’t make it clear whether Capcom will withdraw from developing Switch games entirely if Street Fighter 2 under-performs, but the implication seems to be that the company will only consider releasing more games if sales are strong.Whatever the case may be, Capcom’s message seems pretty clear: buy Ultra Street Fighter II if you want them to make more games for the Switch.

Capcom has been publicly been hesitant to throw support behind the Switch, questioning the value of porting their games over to the hybrid console prior to its launch. As things stand right now, Street Fighter is its only slated game for the Switch.

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers goes on sale tomorrow, May 26, and is the latest re-release of the classic 1991 fighting game. This new version features additional modes, HD visuals, and two new characters.

We’ll have a review posted later today.
