DOTA 2 International 6: Main Event Day 1 – The Secret Is Out

With the Group Stages complete, the field is set for the Main Event, with the sixteen teams seeded according to their Round Robin records. The first day saw two Upper Bracket and four Lower Bracket matches take place, with MVP Phoenix scoring a surprising victory over heavy favorites Team OG, while Digital Chaos simply couldn’t solve the innovative drafting style of Wings Gaming. Meanwhile, Team Secret, which has been surrounded by controversy all year, bowed out of the tournament meekly after dropping their elimination game to LGD Gaming, and one of the six directly invited teams was sent packing as well, as Team Liquid defeated Natus Vincere in the final match of the evening.

Upper Bracket (Best of 3)

MVP Phoenix d. Team OG (2-1)
Wings Gaming d. Digital Chaos (2-1)

Lower Bracket (Best of 1)

TNC Gaming d. Vici Gaming Reborn
LGD Gaming d. Team Secret
Fnatic d. Escape Gaming
Team Liquid d. Natus Vincere

Vici Gaming Reborn, Team Secret, Escape Gaming, and Natus Vincere are eliminated from TI6 in 13th-16th place, earning just over $100,000 each.

Up next on Day Two, Evil Geniuses take on Newbee and Wild Card qualifiers EHOME face Alliance to round out the first round of the Upper Bracket, while the second round of the Lower Bracket features TNC vs OG and Digital Chaos vs LGD Gaming.
