GM Issues Recall Of Trucks and SUVs For Brake Pedal Problem

General Motors has issued a recall of approximately 473,000 pickup trucks and SUVs in North America as a result of a faulty nut which could cause the brake pedals to fail. The company says that the brake pedal pivot nut may loosen, causing the brake pedal to become loose or inoperative. No injuries or crashes related to this issue have been reported.

The recall affects a total of 426,573 2015-16 Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD, and police pursuit versions of the Chevrolet Tahoe in the United States, as well as 46,837 in Canada.

Dealers will inspect affected vehicles to determine whether they received a fix during production. If not, the dealer will add an adhesive to the nut and reinstall it.

According to a GM spokesperson, the company will begin owner notifications for the recall very shortly.
